The principal members of the Tannatt family were Thomas Redding Tannatt (1853-1913), Elizabeth Tappan Tannatt (b. 1837), Eben Tappan Tannatt (1864-1952), and Miriam (Minnie) Tannatt (b. 1866). Thomas R. Tannatt graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1858 and rose to the rank of Brevet-General in the United States Army in 1864.
